Best Chicken Wings in Dublin

For the past two years, I have been on a hunt to find the best chicken wings across Dublin. I honestly wasn’t much of a wing person until moving to Ireland. I mean America loves our chicken wings with our sports programs, but it was never something I sought out.

However, Ireland’s love of wings rubbed off on me, and thus wings started to become one of my chosen snacks. There were times I would even chose to dine at a restaurant because they offered chicken wings on the menu (killing two birds with one stone they say – no pun intended). Adventuring for wings across Dublin was a sacrifice I was willing to make for y’all.

So after much research and many tasty food endeavours, I bring you my final list of Dublin’s Top 5 Chicken Wings, complete with a few honorable mentions at the end.

5. Wing It!

A Dublin classic. Endless flavors with both boneless and bone options. Although I love the boneless option, the flavor of these wings was a bit overpowering. I could have done with a bit more crispiness and less sauce. With these minor changes, these wings could easily become on of the Top 3.

4.  Rustic Stone

An unexpected competitor. I originally went to Rustic Stone for the steak and ordered the chicken wings as a necessary starter. The flavor of these wings was surprising in the best way – an unusual take on typical buffalo style hot wings; they were asian style with sesame seeds and had the most incredible flavor. On top of this, they were perfectly cooked with the exemplary crunch of sticky soya and garlic flavored skin and flawlessly cooked and marinated meat which came off the bone beautifully. These were probably some of the best wings I’ve ever had! The only reason they didn’t make the Top 3 is because I just don’t think it’s fair to consider them as traditional hot wings.

3.  Elephant & Castle

Lovely texture. Amazing flavor. True traditional buffalo style hot wings. A nice portion size as well. Many of you are probably shocked I put this place as only third on my list. Don’t get me wrong, these wings are damn good. But compared to the Top Two places, these just didn’t make the cut.

2.  Farmer Browns

An unlikely and less known choice, this restaurant serves a mean brunch, pub food, and definitely wings! Their wing portion can be an appetizer for one or two (or an entire meal at that). They are perfectly crispy and flavored with the right amount of spice and delicious blue cheese dipping sauce. So next time you hit up this pub, be sure to order their wings 😉

And the restaurant which serves the best wings in Dublin is….

1.  Tribeca!

One of the largest portions of wings by far. But even if size didn’t matter, just tasting a few of these wings would be perfect. The sauce is perfectly buffalo without being too spicy. And their dipping ‘blue cheese’ sauce makes for a delicious addition to the buffalo without tasting overwhelming like mouldy blue cheese. Another reason these wings are my favorite is that the wing texture is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I’ve literally come to Tribeca solely to eat their wings. You should give it a shot too!

Honorable Mentions

Two pubs which deserve a shoutout for serving some delicious wings are Sandyford House and Leopardstown Inn in Dublin South. Both pubs have their own take on the traditional hot wing recipe which are surprisingly delicious for pub food!

I swear I’m not biased to Sandyford, but SquareOne has some mouthwatering hot wings made on the sweeter side. The portion is smaller than most, but the wings make for a great side or snack.

RIBA in Stillorgan serves some tasty wings which could be in the running for the Top 5 list. However, they were literal hot wings and maybe a bit too spicy for most people’s tastes. Also, the portion size is definitely solely a snack.

Overall, being in Dublin you can’t go wrong if you’re looking to try some delicious chicken wings – there’s a plethora of options. There’s truly a texture and flavor for every person’s taste!
